Along with the family that was instrumental in my conversion, I drove to the neighboring town each Sunday for one of the few Latin Masses still being offered. We were convinced that the changes of Vatican II had been made in error.

Living around various "traditionalists" over the years, I was constantly exposed to hearing what was "wrong" with the "modern Church". As a convert, I was confused about the "who, what, and where" of the Catholic Church in the world today. I had almost no personal experience with the universal Church, only with those people and organizations who were focused on what we believed were the "true" Mass and traditions, the "Pre-Vatican II Church".

But the whole world was exposed to the life of Mother Teresa, and I came to believe she was a saint. I knew that she attended the "new Mass"...and yet, she was a saint! When she died, I clipped newspaper articles about her life, and my family watched the funeral on EWTN. And I began to believe that the Church that produces saints is alive and well.

Today I still love the Latin Mass, the Mass of many centuries, offered and attended by many saints. But I also love the Mass that is offered in my local parishes, the same Holy Sacrifice of Calvary, the same celebration of the Last Supper. I credit Mother Teresa among the influences that opened my heart and my mind to an understanding of a greater and living one, holy, Catholic (universal), and apostolic Church.Simple Faith and Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09963791921016417189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4424166700296644217.post-64209408208944400442009-08-01T00:44:54.751-04:002009-08-01T00:44:54.751-04:00She is the ultimate example of how we should love ...She is the ultimate example of how we should love and serve the Lord!
Mary Beth, mbrauser@hotmail.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4424166700296644217.post-91219077945527019382009-07-31T22:43:27.618-04:002009-07-31T22:43:27.618-04:00Mother Teresa had a strength that enabled her to l...Mother Teresa had a strength that enabled her to love each and every soul. She fascinated the world with this love and the smile that reflected the joy of being the spouse of Jesus. She may have suffered with darkness but out of a pure and true love, smiled for love of Him. She spent hours in prayer and yet was able to serve in ways that would exhaust much younger persons. She is our mother and we know she loves us even more now. She lived her life without letting anyone around her change her innate way of thinking. She felt a strong calling from God to begin an order for the poorest of the poor. Her vocation in her life has inspired so many people around the world.

Mother Theresa was a Catholic feminist that defended the honor of women and babies worldwide. She believed that abortion was anti-woman and felt that all babies were a true miracle from God.

When looking at people who are different than myself or in a different situation in life whom I encounter I always remember what Mother Theresa would say to her friends and missionaries that worked around her: Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.

Even to the rudest of people I stop and think of these profound simple words... I almost immediately can change my behavior thinking of those words. Thank you Blessed Mother Theresa for sharing your love and abundance of wisdom from Heaven above.

I hope I am blessed to receive a copy of this book. It would be a beautiful teaching tool for my new homeschoolers. May Peace be with you always.
