ReplyDeleteBoth of my parents had a special love for Mother Teresa. In 1986, not long after my father had a stroke, he and my mom had the opportunity to meet with Mother. She told dad that his suffering was his Purgatory here on earth. My dad, a newly baptized Catholic, cried - he was so overwhelmed. When he died seven years later, my mom wrote to Mother Teresa @ Missionaries of Charity to let her know of his passing and to remind her of their encounter. Mom received a letter back from Mother's secretary saying that Mother wished her to know that "your husband intercedes for you now before the throne of God." What a blessing to be assured by Mother Teresa herself that my dad was safely home in Heaven.
ReplyDeleteI love how she still followed Our Lord despite her darkness - something I can definitely relate with!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I like about Mother Theresa: She inspired a talented writer to write books about mothers and children and the importance of family which in turn brought new light to my faith. With her inspiration through YOUR writings, Donna-Marie, this cradle Catholic has fallen head over heels in love with our Catholic faith. If I could I would have given her a big hug and thanked her for being such a wonderful source of inspiration to you because truly my life has been changed drastically for the better. I thank God for both of you.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless & Hugs!
I admire the humble, wise, giving person she was. I love all her quotes! How fortunate you were to have her friendship! Blessings to you and please enter my name.

I would love to win a copy of your new book. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta has always been such an inspiration to me. She has inspired me to always help those in need, even going beyond what I feel I am able to do at times. She selflessly gave of herself so that others may know the love of Christ through her.

"Mary Mother of Jesus be a Mother to me now" this quote by Mother Teresa has been such a short yet great and powerful little prayer that has gotten me through some tough days. Thanks Donna for sharing this with me!! I even say it as part of my morning prayers before getting out of bed to start my day!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about your new book!
ReplyDeleteThe thing I am most inspired about with Mother Teresa is that she always seemed so joyful. And we've recently found out that she really had inner turmoil going on, yet she never let that get in the way of bringing joy to those she helped. She seemed to have such...control over her emotions. I struggle with this more than anything else. If I'm angry I yell, if I'm sad I cry, ect. She is a great example to look to during those trying times.
As simple as it may sound, I love her beauty inside and outside. I like to look at pictures of her because they always seem to make me think of quiet, and prayerfulness, and happiness, like a little oasis of paradise on earth.

Blessed Mother Teresa did not let politicians stand in her way. She spoke from her heart. Her stature may have been small, but it was solidly full of love, gentleness and compassion.

I'm excited about your new book, too--can't wait to see it! I know personally that I was inspired to contact you because of your connection with Mother Teresa--she's still changing the world through you and all the others that she touched while she was here on earth. Such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteIn this ever-increasing culture of death I look to the life of this saint to remind me of the dignity of every single human being, not just the ones the world finds to be "worthy".
ReplyDeleteI believe the sacredness that Mother Theresa bestowed on every human life is an example we all need to strive to show all the world.
ReplyDeleteI love Mother Teresa's smile! I have a holy card picture of her on my desk at the WIC Clinic where I work and she reminds me to small at all of the poor little ones I work with each day.
ReplyDeleteI dearly admire Mother Theresa for her "selfless" giving, the ardor she has shown towards the poor and the needy, her humility and charity works and the impact she has made to mankind. Her words would always remain in my heart as I continue my day to day journey...
ReplyDeleteDear Donna, You are indeed blessed for being able to nurture a wonderful friendship with Mother Theresa. No wonder you also touch so many hearts through your books and kind words...
May GOD continue to bless you.

Mother Teresa died the same year my mother did (not that it's why I like her). The following year when we were trying to pick a name for our soon-to-be born daughter we were stuck on our short list. I ordered some books from Leaflet Missal and in the bottom of the box were tossed a few holy cards - St Therese and Mother Teresa. Our daughter's was chosen for us :)
ReplyDeleteso I guess I like her since she's my youngest dd's patron saint
What I like about Mother Theresa; she has a face that reflects the Holy Spirit within her. When I gaze upon her face (on a card, book, etc.), it's natural to be humbled by it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your works. My family has a devotion to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta and would love to read the book, together.

To me Jesus is the Life I want to live, the Light I want to reflect, the Way to the Father, the Love I want to express, the Joy I want to share, the Peace I want to sow around me. Jesus is my everything. ~ Mother Teresa
I was in her presence only once-- at the Eucharistic Convention in Philadelphia in 1976, and even as a child, I knew there was something special about her. My dad, a deacon, had the honor of serving on the altar at a Mass at which she was a speaker and I know that had an amazing effect on him, as well. We must all pray for her intercession in the ending of abortion. She said that it was America's scourge and downfall and she was so right. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us and for all unborn children!!
ReplyDeleteI love Mother Teresa's peace, serenity and love in the midst of such spirtual dryness and suffering..a true saint..
ReplyDeleteI love Mother Teresa's simplicity and faithfulness.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me, what I love about Mother Teresa is her quotes. They are so profound and have an effect on all people.
ReplyDeleteOh where do I begin? I suppose what I love the most about Mother Teresa is her simplicity and immense, deep, and authentic love. In all of her writings, I feel as though I'm listening to Christ himself speaking through her, and I want to imitate her "Little" way that God was able to do SO much with. I would love a copy of this book.
ReplyDeleteI love her profound humility and joy. She believed in living a life of joy while serving the Lord at all times. In my life as a mother I am often reminded that the joy of the Lord is my strength!
ReplyDeleteI would love a copy of this book!
i loved her charity and perspective of life...i cherish the view from her eyes.

I love Mother Theresa for her simplicity of loving God in a pure and simple way. She lived her life without letting anyone around her change her innate way of thinking. She felt a strong calling from God to begin an order for the poorest of the poor. Her vocation in her life has inspired so many people around the world.
ReplyDeleteMother Theresa was a Catholic feminist that defended the honor of women and babies worldwide. She believed that abortion was anti-woman and felt that all babies were a true miracle from God.
When looking at people who are different than myself or in a different situation in life whom I encounter I always remember what Mother Theresa would say to her friends and missionaries that worked around her: Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.
Even to the rudest of people I stop and think of these profound simple words... I almost immediately can change my behavior thinking of those words. Thank you Blessed Mother Theresa for sharing your love and abundance of wisdom from Heaven above.
I hope I am blessed to receive a copy of this book. It would be a beautiful teaching tool for my new homeschoolers. May Peace be with you always. Jackie
thank you for the kind offer and this contest. mother is dear to me as well.
ReplyDeleteAs a military wife who has abandoned her own career aspirations in order to serve her husband and family, I found this particular piece of advice to be very inspiring: "May you trust in God that you are exactly where you are meant to be."
ReplyDeleteThat single suggestion has comforted me in many difficult moments.
Mother Teresa had a strength that enabled her to love each and every soul. She fascinated the world with this love and the smile that reflected the joy of being the spouse of Jesus. She may have suffered with darkness but out of a pure and true love, smiled for love of Him. She spent hours in prayer and yet was able to serve in ways that would exhaust much younger persons. She is our mother and we know she loves us even more now. May we love and serve as she did.

She is the ultimate example of how we should love and serve the Lord!

It was 1971 when I felt called to become a Catholic at the age of 18. Along with the family that was instrumental in my conversion, I drove to the neighboring town each Sunday for one of the few Latin Masses still being offered. We were convinced that the changes of Vatican II had been made in error.
ReplyDeleteLiving around various "traditionalists" over the years, I was constantly exposed to hearing what was "wrong" with the "modern Church". As a convert, I was confused about the "who, what, and where" of the Catholic Church in the world today. I had almost no personal experience with the universal Church, only with those people and organizations who were focused on what we believed were the "true" Mass and traditions, the "Pre-Vatican II Church".
But the whole world was exposed to the life of Mother Teresa, and I came to believe she was a saint. I knew that she attended the "new Mass"...and yet, she was a saint! When she died, I clipped newspaper articles about her life, and my family watched the funeral on EWTN. And I began to believe that the Church that produces saints is alive and well.
Today I still love the Latin Mass, the Mass of many centuries, offered and attended by many saints. But I also love the Mass that is offered in my local parishes, the same Holy Sacrifice of Calvary, the same celebration of the Last Supper. I credit Mother Teresa among the influences that opened my heart and my mind to an understanding of a greater and living one, holy, Catholic (universal), and apostolic Church.
Mother Teresa inspires me to be a better Catholic... as a mother, daughter, sister, wife and woman...
ReplyDeleteI like how she persevered despite her feelings.
ReplyDeleteI love her simplicity and her love of children.
ReplyDeleteI am most inspired by her quote “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
ReplyDeleteI love how Mother Theresa compared children to flowers...saying there can never be too many. And, my favorite quote of hers is, "I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much." Something I am truly relating to right now...
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
I've admired Mother Teresa for a long time, but after reading Come Be My LightW... WOW.
ReplyDeleteI was unaware that she'd gone through years and years of spiritual darkness, and I was humbled as I saw her example of faithfulness. I pray I will be 1/10th as faithful as she was. What a tremendous example she gave us.
I admire her for her humility.
ReplyDeleteShe loved the Lord with all her heart, soul & mind and expressed that love through her actions.
ReplyDeleteThe simplicity of Mother Teresa's goals in life motivate me daily. She said once that the ocean with one drop less would be missing something (clearly not an exact quote!). My daughter, my first-born, was born on her feast day. This book looks beautiful! Thank you for offering the contest.
ReplyDeleteHer faith and her commitment to the Lord, especially when it was all she had.
